Bristol City Council secured significant funding to expand community energy projects across the city. These initiatives focus on installing solar panels on community buildings, developing community-owned wind power, and implementing energy efficiency measures in deprived areas. The council has also pioneered innovative financing mechanisms to support its projects, including a community climate bond scheme, announced in March 2025, that has raised over £3 million for local environmental initiatives. It has set ambitious targets to double community-owned renewable energy capacity by 2030.
